Officers Will Now Speak in Sanskrit; Spoken Sanskrit Camp Begins in Uttarakhand

In a move to promote Sanskrit, the second official language of Uttarakhand, a ‘Spoken Sanskrit Camp’ began on Wednesday at the state secretariat premises. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the camp after a cabinet meeting, accompanied by all cabinet ministers and the Chief Secretary.

The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to the preservation and promotion of Sanskrit and Indian culture. As part of this initiative, 13 Sanskrit villages are being developed across the 13 districts of the state. Additionally, the Uttarakhand Sanskrit Academy is running multiple programs to connect the public with ancient Indian knowledge systems like the Vedas, Upanishads, and Indian philosophy.

CM Dhami said making Sanskrit a people’s language is a key priority. As part of this effort, spoken Sanskrit sessions will be conducted at the Secretariat from May 29 to June 12. Secretary of Sanskrit Education, Deepak Kumar Gairola, informed that these sessions will train officers and staff in everyday spoken Sanskrit. The Secretariat Administration Department has already issued the necessary instructions for participation.
