The Social Welfare Department of Uttarakhand is set to replace the manual physical verification process for scholarships with a new video-upload system. Under the revised process, students and teachers will upload verification videos directly to the scholarship portal, making the process faster and more transparent.
This change is expected to speed up the disbursement of scholarships for SC, ST, OBC, and economically weaker students across all education levels—from primary classes to post-secondary education.
Last year, over 1.22 lakh students applied for scholarships online. However, the physical verification process was carried out manually by officials who had to visit schools to confirm student details. The new method will eliminate the need for such visits and reduce delays caused by multi-tier verification involving district officials.
The department believes that video verification will ensure quicker approvals and help students receive financial assistance without long waits.
