14 New Small Hydro Power Projects Proposed in Uttarakhand, DPR and PFR Reports Submitted

Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (UJVNL) has prepared proposals for 14 small hydroelectric projects across the state and submitted them to the government. These projects, identified under the state’s new hydro power policy introduced last year, may receive cabinet approval in the upcoming session.

According to UJVNL Managing Director Dr. Sandeep Singhal, Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for four of these projects have already been approved, while Preliminary Feasibility Reports (PFRs) for ten others have also received clearance. Some amendments are needed at the government level, which will be finalized in the cabinet.

These projects are located across districts such as Pithoragarh, Uttarkashi, and Tehri, mainly on rivers, streams, and tributaries. The cumulative generation capacity of these 14 projects is estimated at 165.4 megawatts, offering a significant boost to the state’s energy output. Other districts are also being assessed for further development of similar small-scale hydroelectric projects.
