Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has installed over two lakh smart meters across the state under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). The corporation has now set a daily target of installing 4,000 meters to cover a total of 16 lakh households and commercial establishments.
UPCL Managing Director Anil Kumar said the installation is aimed at improving the efficiency, reliability, and transparency of the power distribution system. These meters will provide consumers with accurate data on their electricity usage and help streamline the billing system.
The smart meters allow for real-time consumption monitoring, remote connection and disconnection, and enhanced system control. The initiative covers urban, semi-urban, rural, and remote areas across the state.
