Dehradun: From April 2026, property registrations in Uttarakhand — including land, houses, and other assets — will go fully virtual. Citizens will be able to complete registry procedures from home without visiting the sub-registrar office. The digital system aims to reduce paperwork, save time, and minimize land-related disputes.
Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan has directed officials to finalize the implementation timeline and ensure readiness before the launch. The virtual registry project will integrate all relevant departments, agencies, and stakeholders through an automated, paperless process to enhance transparency and maintain uniform property records.
Officials informed that the application for virtual registry has been developed, and tenders for infrastructure setup will begin soon. The system will include three registration options — physical (with documents), paperless in-office registration, and fully online registration.

In the online process, users will log in through the department’s portal, select property details via geo-tagging, upload documents, verify through e-KYC and digital signatures, pay stamp duty online, and complete registration via video call.
