The Uttarakhand Transport Corporation has accelerated the tender process for purchasing 100 new buses. The corporation’s Managing Director, Reena Joshi, has formed a committee to oversee the process, and the tender is expected to be issued this week. The new buses are likely to be delivered by the end of this year.
On November 21, 2023, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the Transport Corporation to immediately procure 100 buses. Initially, the plan was to purchase the buses from Tata Motors, the same company that supplied previous fleets. However, the Finance Department halted this proposal, requiring a new tender process. After multiple delays, the Finance Department has now granted approval, allowing the purchase to proceed.
The procurement process had been stuck in bureaucratic delays for nearly four months. However, after a news report in Amar Ujala on Tuesday highlighted the delay, the process gained momentum. The corporation is now expected to issue the tender soon and complete the bus procurement process swiftly.
