The Chief Electoral Officer’s office has initiated preparations for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list based on the qualifying date of January 2026. A tabletop exercise was conducted, and voters have been divided into four categories for verification.
Category A includes voters aged 38 or above, already listed in the 2025 rolls, whose names also appear in the 2003 list. They will only need to submit an abstract for verification. Category B covers voters aged 38 or above listed in 2025 rolls but missing from the 2003 list. They must provide one of 11 valid identity documents such as a passport, driving license, PAN card, Aadhaar card, or government-issued ID.
Category C comprises voters aged 20–37 years in the 2025 list, while Category D covers new voters aged 18–19. Both groups must submit one document of their own and one from their parents.
The 2003 voter list has now been released for all 70 assembly constituencies, and voters are required to check their names. Any objections can be filed within 15 days before the District Magistrate, with a second appeal allowed within 30 days to the Chief Electoral Officer if dissatisfied.
Currently, Uttarakhand has 11,733 polling booths. However, only 2,744 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) have been appointed so far. Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Purushottam urged political parties to expedite BLA appointments.
