The Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in parts of Dehradun, Pithoragarh, and Bageshwar districts today (Sunday). A yellow alert has also been issued for parts of Uttarkashi, Tehri, Pauri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, and Champawat, warning of moderate to heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds. Weather conditions are expected to remain similar across Uttarakhand until August 15.
Meanwhile, continuous rainfall has caused major disruptions to road connectivity. As per the Public Works Department (PWD), 145 roads are closed across the state, including two national highways. Among these, 94 belong to the PMGSY network, 47 are under the PWD, and two are maintained by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). Road closures have led to significant travel issues for residents and commuters.
