Uttarakhand witnessed a refreshing change in weather on Sunday as heavy rains lashed the plains, including capital Dehradun, providing much-needed relief from the intense heat. The downpour brought temperatures down and led to a rise in water levels in rivers such as Rispana and Bindal. Authorities have begun alerting residents near riverbanks through loudspeakers to stay cautious.
According to the Meteorological Centre, rainfall is likely to continue across several parts of the state. A yellow alert has been issued for areas in Nainital, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Champawat, Rudraprayag, and Chamoli districts. These regions may experience heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Other mountainous regions are also expected to see spells of rain along with strong winds and lightning. Light rain is also possible in other districts. The forecast suggests that lightning and thunderstorms with light rain may persist across the state until June 20.
