Dehradun: Indian women’s cricket team all-rounder Sneha Rana received a hero’s welcome at Dehradun Airport as she returned home after India’s historic One Day World Cup win over South Africa. The Uttarakhand-born cricketer was greeted with dhol-nagada celebrations, cheers, and garlands by her family and fans.

Sneha Rana, a resident of Selaqui, Dehradun, played a crucial role in India’s first-ever Women’s ODI World Cup triumph. Speaking at the airport, she expressed joy over the team’s hard-earned success, crediting teamwork and dedication for the victory. She also shared that meeting the Prime Minister and President along with the team was an inspiring experience, and she may meet Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the Prime Minister again during the State Foundation Day celebrations.

Her brother Kamal Rana and sister-in-law Richa Rana, who arrived at the airport to receive her, said Sneha had trained extensively for the World Cup despite suffering an injury earlier this year. Overcoming this setback, she contributed to India’s win and made Uttarakhand proud on the global stage.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated Sneha Rana over a phone call and announced a reward of ₹50 lakh for her exceptional performance. He praised her for bringing pride to the state and the country through her talent and determination. “Sneha Rana has illuminated Uttarakhand’s name on the world stage through her hard work and perseverance.
