Uttarkashi Disaster: CM Dhami Orders Immediate Damage Assessment in Syana Chatti

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Syana Chatti in Uttarkashi to review the disaster-hit areas. He met with affected residents, assured all possible support, and directed the District Magistrate to immediately assess the damage caused by waterlogging and debris flow. The incident occurred when debris from the Kupra Khad gadera blocked the Yamuna River’s flow, creating a temporary lake. The CM inspected the site and instructed officials to clear silt deposits, widen the lake’s outlet, and ensure quick water discharge.

During the visit, CM Dhami also inspected the damaged Kupra Kunshala bridge and ordered the appointment of a responsible agency to start reconstruction at the earliest. He further directed officials to establish an alternative pedestrian route until the bridge is restored. Stressing the need for swift action, he said blocked routes caused by frequent landslides must be reopened and the Yamunotri route should be restored promptly for smooth travel.

The Chief Minister also instructed officials to declare a Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the potato crop, as farmers are facing heavy losses due to disrupted transportation. He assured that the government stands with every affected family and that compensation and necessary relief will be provided soon.
