Uttarkashi Helicopter Crash: Pilot and Six Passengers Killed

A tragic helicopter crash occurred on Thursday morning near Ganganani along the Gangotri National Highway in Uttarkashi district. The private Aerotrans helicopter, carrying seven people including the pilot, crashed shortly after taking off from the Sahastradhara helipad en route to Harsil.

According to officials, six people, including the pilot, died on the spot. One severely injured passenger has been airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh for emergency treatment. Rescue operations were immediately initiated by teams from the police, SDRF, fire department, medical personnel, and other disaster response units.

Four of the deceased passengers were from Mumbai, while two others hailed from Andhra Pradesh. The exact cause of the crash is yet to be confirmed and authorities are investigating the incident. The area has been cordoned off for further safety and inquiry.

The Uttarakhand government has expressed deep condolences and assured a thorough probe into the incident, along with assistance to the victims’ families.
