Valley of Flowers Closure 2024

The Valley of Flowers, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, continues to enchant visitors with its stunning natural beauty, attracting a significant number of foreign tourists this year. So far, 243 international tourists have visited the valley—almost double compared to 112 in the same period last year. The overall tourist footfall has also seen a noticeable rise.

Currently at its peak bloom, the valley presents a breathtaking display of more than 300 species of vibrant alpine flowers. July and August mark the most visually spectacular months, as the terrain transforms into a colorful carpet of flora spread across the valley’s natural slopes.

Opened to tourists on June 1, the Valley of Flowers has welcomed 9,443 visitors in just two months, up from 8,751 during the same timeframe last year. The sharp increase in foreign tourist arrivals highlights growing global interest in Uttarakhand’s ecological wonders.

Forest Range Officer Chetna Kandpal confirmed that the rise in tourist numbers has also led to higher revenue for the department. Income from tourism in the past two months has increased from ₹17.61 lakh last year to ₹20.25 lakh this year.

The Valley of Flowers remains one of India’s most picturesque natural destinations, and the spike in international interest reinforces its global appeal as a must-visit ecological treasure.
