Valley of Flowers Closes for Winter, Records High Tourist Footfall This Year

The UNESCO World Heritage Site, Valley of Flowers, was officially closed for winter on Thursday, October 31, to ensure the protection of its wildlife during the off-season. The valley, which opens annually on June 1, is closed to visitors each year on October 31.

Around 12 PM on Thursday, the valley was closed to tourists. This year, a total of 19,436 tourists visited, including 330 foreign visitors, generating a revenue of ₹39.39 lakh for the park administration.

Forest Officer Chetna Kandpal stated that the valley saw a substantial number of visitors this season, which brought in notable revenue. To protect wildlife, five trap cameras have been installed, and departmental teams will continue to inspect the valley periodically.
