Vote Tampering Allegation in Nainital Zila Panchayat Poll Reaches High Court

The election of the Nainital Zila Panchayat chairperson has been challenged in the Uttarakhand High Court after allegations of vote tampering. The petition claims that during late-night counting, cameras were deliberately turned off and one vote was altered through overwriting. A forensic investigation of the ballot has been demanded, along with a plea to prevent the elected representative from taking oath until the case is resolved.

During the preliminary hearing, the High Court advised the petitioner to first approach the Election Commission before further proceedings. The matter remains under consideration.
