Women Congress Workers Detained During Protest March in Dehradun Against Assault on Unemployed Nurses

Women Congress workers were detained by police in Dehradun on Monday while marching towards the Secretariat. They were protesting against the alleged assault on unemployed nursing candidates during a recent demonstration.

The protest, led by Pradesh Women Congress President Jyoti Rautela, began from Subhash Road, where police placed barricades and stopped the march. The protesters raised slogans against the state government and demanded action against the accused. They were later taken away in police vans and shifted to Ekta Vihar.

Earlier, hundreds of unemployed nursing candidates, under the banner of Nursing Ekta Manch, marched towards the Chief Minister’s residence. Clashes broke out at Hathibadkala between the protesters and the police, which continued for nearly two hours. A woman constable was accused of assaulting a female protester, and a video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

According to Nawal Pundeer, State President of Nursing Ekta Manch, the organization has been protesting for several days demanding yearly recruitment and relaxation in age limits. He said unemployed nursing candidates will continue their movement until their demands are addressed.
