The Yamunotri pilgrimage route in Uttarkashi was severely disrupted after a landslide near Bhairav Mandir on the Jankichatti-Yamunotri trek path. Two pilgrims have gone missing, prompting the administration to suspend movement to and from the shrine until further notice.

Thousands of devotees have been halted at locations including Barkot, Dubata Band, Ganganani, Kharadi, and Paligad. Hundreds of vehicles have remained stranded since Sunday evening, as pilgrims await the reopening of the route.

Uttarkashi Sub-Divisional Magistrate Brijesh Kumar Tiwari stated that the halt was a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incident. Pilgrims have been moved to safer areas temporarily. Search and rescue operations are underway to trace the missing individuals and clear the debris from the path.

The Bhaneli Gad–Yamunotri alternative 2.5 km trek route is currently not being used due to safety concerns. Yamunotri MLA Sanjay Dobal also reached the site to oversee the relief efforts.
