At Maa Chandi Devi Temple in Haridwar, the Shri Badri-Kedar Temple Committee (BKTC) appointed a receiver about 45 days ago. Since then, around ₹34 lakh has been deposited into the trust’s account. However, questions are now being raised about the handling of funds since the temple trust was formed in 2009, including where previous collections were deposited and how they were spent.
Following administrative intervention, work has begun to improve facilities for devotees. Efforts include fixing the low-voltage power supply inside the temple complex and installing new electric poles. BKTC has also approved the construction of four male and four female toilets for visitors.
Despite crores of rupees in annual income earlier, development within the premises has remained limited. The only major additions have been shops, many of which were set up informally, falling under encroachment and allocated without proper authorization.
