A tragic accident in Dharchula claimed the life of a 75-year-old man after a car fell into a deep gorge near Ghatkhola. The Dharchula accident occurred when the vehicle lost control, leaving two others injured.
According to officials, the incident took place near Ghatkhola bridge, around two kilometres from the tehsil headquarters. The occupants of the car were returning to their village Sinyakhola after shopping in Dharchula when the vehicle went out of control and plunged into the gorge.
The deceased has been identified as Kamal Ram Johari (75), who was driving the car. Two other passengers, Gajendra Thapa and Nar Singh Dhami, sustained injuries in the accident.
Police, along with local residents, launched a rescue operation and pulled the injured out of the gorge. All three were rushed to the hospital, but Kamal Ram Johari succumbed to his injuries on the way.
The injured are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital and are reported to be out of danger. Police said that further procedures, including postmortem, will be carried out after the arrival of the deceased’s family members.

The Dharchula accident once again highlights the risks associated with hill roads, where sharp turns and difficult terrain often lead to such incidents.
