Census 2027: Teachers Get Relief as Non-Teaching Staff to Handle Duties

Dehradun. In a key decision ahead of Census 2027 preparations, the district administration has moved to reduce the deployment of teachers in census duties to ensure that school education remains unaffected.

An order issued by Additional District Magistrate and District Census Officer K.K. Mishra states that unnecessary deployment of teachers in census work should be avoided, keeping in view the smooth functioning of schools.

The order highlights that while the census must be conducted in a time-bound manner as per Government of India guidelines, it should not disrupt academic activities. Accordingly, most of the census-related work will now be assigned to non-teaching staff.

The administration has directed that personnel from departments such as banks, insurance companies, ONGC, PHE, and Central Ground Water Conservation should be given priority for census duties. Employees from various state government departments will also be deployed in a time-bound manner.

It has also been stated that duties already assigned to teachers will be reviewed, and they may be replaced with other staff wherever required.
