Adi Kailash Yatra to begin from May 8, first batch to depart from Haldwani

Nainital: The Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) will begin the Adi Kailash Om Parvat Yatra from May 8, with the first group scheduled to leave from PWD Rest House, Tikonia in Haldwani at 8 am. Preparations for the pilgrimage have been finalized.

Alongside this, preparations for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra are also underway. The pilgrimage will start from June 30, with the first group expected to reach Tanakpur on July 4. During the Adi Kailash Yatra, pilgrims will visit prominent धार्मिक sites including Kainchi Dham, Chitai Golu Devta Temple and Jageshwar Dham, and will have lunch at the tourist rest house in Jageshwar before proceeding towards Pithoragarh. The first batch includes 20 यात्रियों, of which 13 are women.

KMVN will operate the Adi Kailash Yatra from Haldwani, Dharchula and Tanakpur. The first group from Haldwani will depart on May 8, while batches from Dharchula and Tanakpur will begin on May 9. The Tanakpur route will be a six-day journey. A total of 15 batches from each route will undertake the pilgrimage.

Pilgrims will also visit several key locations including Jageshwar, Pithoragarh, Dharchula, Gunji, Bundi, Nabidhang, Jyolikang, Chaukori, Almora, Kathgodam and Lohaghat. According to KMVN Business Development Manager Deepak Pandey, the per person cost is ₹45,000 plus 5% GST from Haldwani, ₹36,000 plus GST from Dharchula, and ₹42,000 plus GST from Tanakpur.

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, also organized by KMVN, will be conducted for the second time via Tanakpur. A total of 10 batches comprising 500 pilgrims will participate in the 22-day journey, which will continue till August 26. Pilgrims will cover a distance of 1,738 km from Delhi through various modes of transport.
