Uttarakhand sees cooler May as changing weather pattern keeps temperatures below normal

Dehradun: Rainfall, snowfall in higher Himalayan regions and strong winds over the past few days have kept temperatures lower than usual across Uttarakhand, bringing relief from heat during May. Cloudy conditions and light rainfall throughout the day have reduced the impact of sunlight, while people are also experiencing mild cold during morning and evening hours, which is considered unusual for this time of the year.

Weather experts say the change is linked to shifting weather patterns that have become more visible over the last two years. Similar conditions were also recorded during the early days of May last year when rain and strong winds prevented a sharp rise in temperatures. The impact is being seen not only in hill districts but also across the plains, where temperatures have remained below normal.

According to weather data, Dehradun recorded a maximum temperature of 31.2 degrees Celsius, which was four degrees below normal. However, the minimum temperature remained two degrees above normal at 23 degrees Celsius. A similar trend was reported from other plain areas of the state during the past 24 hours. While maximum temperatures in plain regions stayed below normal, hill areas recorded temperatures significantly lower than average.
