Rishikesh – Panic spread in the IDPL area on Friday evening after a one-tusked elephant reached the roadside and started moving around near the forest stretch. Due to the elephant’s movement, vehicles were stopped on both sides of the road for safety reasons. People who had come out for evening walks were also asked to stop by the forest department team.
After receiving information, forest department officials reached the spot and monitored the elephant’s movement closely. Local residents remained anxious after the sudden appearance of the elephant in the area. Officials later resumed vehicle and public movement after the elephant crossed the road and moved back toward the forest.
Rishikesh Range Officer Gambhir Singh Dhamanda appealed to people to remain alert while moving near forest areas and follow the instructions issued by the forest department. He also advised residents not to create panic or make loud noises after spotting wild animals.
