Rishikesh – A 17-year-old boy from Dehradun went missing in the Ganga river while bathing with friends at Triveni Ghat in Rishikesh. SDRF teams continued search operations, but no trace of the teenager had been found till the latest reports.

According to officials, four friends had left their homes saying they were going to visit a temple and later reached Rishikesh. During bathing in the river, the spectacles of one of the boys fell into the water.

While trying to retrieve the spectacles, the teenager moved toward deeper water and was suddenly swept away by the strong current of the Ganga. Witnesses said he drifted some distance before drowning in the river.

Rescue personnel deployed at the ghat immediately jumped into the river after hearing cries for help and tried to save the teenager, but they could not locate him.

After receiving information, the SDRF deep diving team from Dhalwala reached the spot and launched an intensive search operation in the river.

Officials said the strong water flow was making rescue efforts difficult. The missing teenager has been identified as Ayush Thapa (17), son of Sunil Thapa and resident of Old Connaught Place, Chakrata Road, Dehradun.
