A road accident occurred on the Badrinath National Highway near Kaleshwar in Chamoli district on Sunday when a car returning from Badrinath collided with a tempo traveller coming from the opposite direction. The impact caused panic among passengers travelling in both vehicles.
According to reports, the collision took place around noon. Hearing the loud crash and passengers shouting for help, local residents rushed to the spot and assisted those inside the vehicles. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the accident.
The collision led to traffic congestion on both sides of the highway for some time. Police from Langasu outpost reached the scene and cleared the road by moving the damaged vehicles to the roadside, restoring traffic movement.
Langasu Outpost In-charge Devendra Singh said the car was carrying pilgrims who were returning after visiting Badrinath Dham. Preliminary information suggests that the driver lost control of the vehicle near Kaleshwar, resulting in a head-on collision with the approaching tempo traveller.

Local residents said the sound of the crash was heard from a considerable distance. Police and administrative officials also reached the spot to assess the situation and ensure the safety of passengers.
