Rishikesh: River Rafting to Close from June 30, Adventure Activity to Resume on September 1

River rafting in Rishikesh to resume from 27 September

Rishikesh: Adventure enthusiasts have limited time left to enjoy river rafting in Rishikesh, with the current rafting season set to end on June 30. The Tourism Department and local administration have decided to suspend rafting operations during the monsoon due to rising water levels and strong river currents.

Rafting will remain closed for two months and is scheduled to resume on September 1 after the Ganga’s water level returns to normal and safety conditions improve.

Tourists from Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and several other states continue to visit Rishikesh for the popular adventure activity. Rafting operators transport visitors from their offices to starting points such as Phool Chatti, Club House, Brahmpuri, Shivpuri, Kaudiyala, and Marine Drive before they begin their journey through the Ganga.

Former Ganga River Rafting Rotation Committee president Dinesh Bhatt said rafting operations are suspended every year during the monsoon as the increased water flow significantly raises the risk of accidents. He appealed to adventure lovers to plan their trips before June 30 if they wish to experience rafting this season.

Adventure Tourism Officer Jaspal Chauhan also confirmed that rafting operations will officially stop on June 30 in accordance with the prescribed guidelines and will resume from September 1.
