Heavy rainfall lashed Dehradun and adjoining areas on Friday, leading to damage on the Dehradun–Mussoorie Road near Pani Wala Bend. Following the damage, authorities have suspended vehicular movement on the route until further orders to ensure public safety.
Officials said the continuous rainfall weakened a section of the road, making it unsafe for traffic. As a precautionary measure, all types of vehicles have been stopped from using the affected stretch while assessment and restoration work are carried out.
The closure is expected to impact commuters and tourists travelling between Dehradun and Mussoorie. Authorities have advised motorists to avoid the route and follow official traffic advisories until normal movement is restored.
Concerned departments are monitoring the situation and will take further action based on weather conditions and the progress of repair work. The road will remain closed until it is declared safe for vehicular movement.
Residents and travellers have been urged to remain cautious, especially in hilly areas where continuous rainfall has increased the risk of landslides and road damage.
