A shocking double murder has come to light at Pathreshwar Mahadev Temple in Haridwar’s Pathri police station area, where two resident sadhus were allegedly killed and their bodies buried in a forest near the temple to conceal the crime. Police recovered both bodies after excavation and have launched an intensive investigation.
According to the police, a temple caretaker informed authorities that two sadhus, identified as Seva Giri and Uttam Giri, had been missing for some time and expressed fears of foul play. Acting on the information, Pathri Station House Officer Ravindra Singh, accompanied by a police team and forensic experts, reached the temple and began a search operation.
During the investigation, police excavated a suspected spot in the nearby forest, where the bodies of both sadhus were found buried in a pit. The bodies were recovered and sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause and time of death.
Preliminary findings suggest that the victims were murdered before their bodies were buried in an apparent attempt to destroy evidence. Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural) Shekhar Chand Suyal visited the crime scene to review the investigation and directed officials to collect all possible forensic and physical evidence.
Police suspect the involvement of three sadhus who had stayed at the temple two days before the incident. The suspects have been missing since the murders and are currently absconding. Multiple police teams have been formed to trace and arrest them, with raids being conducted at several possible locations.
Authorities said the motive behind the killings is still under investigation, and all angles are being examined. Police expressed confidence that the case will be solved soon based on the evidence collected from the crime scene and the ongoing investigation.
