Students and youth staged a protest in Dehradun on Tuesday against the recurring incidents of examination paper leaks, expressing concern over the credibility of competitive examinations in the country. The demonstration was organized under the banner of the Agragami Chhatra-Naujawan Sabha, with participants raising slogans and demanding accountability from the government over the alleged irregularities in recruitment and entrance examinations.
The protesters alleged that the NEET-UG 2026 examination, conducted on May 3, 2026, was compromised due to a paper leak, putting the future of lakhs of aspirants at risk. They claimed that influential individuals were involved in the alleged malpractice and accused those responsible of undermining the integrity of the examination system through financial irregularities.
Participants also pointed to several competitive examinations in recent years that have reportedly been affected by paper leak incidents. They said repeated irregularities have eroded public confidence in the examination process and unfairly impacted candidates who prepare honestly for these tests.
During the protest, the students submitted a set of demands, including the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the abolition of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and restoration of the previous examination system, financial compensation for candidates affected by paper leaks, recovery of damages from companies found responsible for examination irregularities, and an end to the centralized conduct of professional entrance examinations.
The protesters warned that if their demands are not addressed promptly, they will intensify their agitation in the coming days.
