A woman died under suspicious circumstances in Gram Panchayat Koti of Jakhnidhar Block in Uttarakhand’s Tehri district, with allegations that her mentally ill son was responsible for her death. Police have launched an investigation and are searching for the accused, who has been absconding since the incident.
According to initial information, the incident occurred on Tuesday night. On Wednesday morning, family members and nearby residents became suspicious after the woman did not respond and the door of her room remained closed. When they looked inside, they found her lying dead.
The villagers immediately informed the police. A police team reached the spot, took the body into custody, and sent it to the District Hospital in Bairadi for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Preliminary reports suggest that the woman’s mentally ill son allegedly committed the crime before fleeing the scene. Police have registered the case, initiated a search operation to trace the accused, and are examining all aspects of the incident.
Officials said the post-mortem report and evidence collected from the scene will help establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. Further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
