Narendranagar Civic Polls: BJP Wins 4 Wards, Congress Secures 3 Seats

New Tehri –  The local body election results for the Narendranagar Municipal Council reflected a balanced contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, with BJP winning four of the seven ward seats and Congress securing the remaining three.

The election for the post of Municipal Chairperson concluded without a contest after the nomination of the Congress candidate was rejected. Following the completion of the election process, BJP candidate and former municipal chairperson Rajendra Vikram Singh Panwar was declared elected unopposed as the Chairperson of the Narendranagar Municipal Council.

Counting of votes for the seven ward member seats was conducted at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Negi Government Inter College in Narendranagar under tight security arrangements. According to Returning Officer (Member) Sachin Kumar, a total of eight voters exercised the NOTA option across all wards.

In Ward No. 1, Kinwani, BJP candidate Mamta Devi won with 249 votes, defeating Congress candidate Rajni, who received 90 votes, while UKD candidate Kalpana Rawat secured 50 votes.

Ward No. 2, Vande Mataram, was won by Congress leader Abha Panwar with 148 votes. BJP candidate Prakash Ramola finished second with 137 votes.

In Ward No. 3, Bazaar Line, BJP’s Sachin Bhandari emerged victorious with 211 votes, while Congress-backed independent candidate Arvind Rawat secured 143 votes.

Congress candidate Ravi Negi won Ward No. 4, Civil Line, with 184 votes, defeating BJP’s Shaila Gosain, who polled 159 votes.

Ward No. 5, Suman Chikitsalaya Campus, went in favour of BJP candidate Pushpa Rana, who secured 176 votes. Congress candidate Rajni received 59 votes.

In Ward No. 6, Bakariyana, Congress candidate Rekha defeated BJP’s Vinita, a two-time councillor, by securing 103 votes against 96.

Ward No. 7, Clerk Quarter, saw BJP Mandal President Saket Bijalwan retain his seat for a second consecutive term. He secured 169 votes, while Congress candidate and Narendranagar Traders’ Association president Jitendra Chandpuri received 56 votes.

The overall composition of the municipal board remains unchanged from the previous term, with BJP holding four seats and Congress retaining three seats.
