Udham Singh Nagar: Three residents of Shaktifarm in Uttarakhand were killed and a girl was seriously injured after the car they were travelling in collided head-on with a dumper in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district on Monday.
The five occupants were travelling to the Puranpur area to attend a naming ceremony at a relative’s home. The accident occurred on the Pilibhit-Basti National Highway under the jurisdiction of Puranpur Kotwali.
The deceased have been identified as 35-year-old Tarak Mandal, a resident of Shiv Mandir Ward No. 3 in Shaktifarm, 65-year-old Shefali Rai and 35-year-old Sadhana, a resident of Devnagar.
According to the information available, Tarak Mandal was driving the car. Shefali Rai and Sadhana were travelling with him along with Sadhana’s son Shantanu and daughter Khushboo.
The group had left Shaktifarm to attend the naming ceremony of Tarak Mandal’s relative in the Puranpur area. While they were travelling on the Pilibhit-Basti National Highway, their car collided with an oncoming dumper.
The impact was severe and the car was badly damaged. Tarak Mandal, Shefali Rai and Sadhana died in the accident. Sadhana’s daughter Khushboo sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment.
Police reached the spot after receiving information about the accident and began relief and rescue operations. The bodies and injured person were taken for further medical and legal procedures.
Family members of the victims also reached the accident site after receiving information about the incident.
News of the deaths has caused grief in the Shaktifarm area, where the victims were known to local residents. Police are gathering information about the circumstances leading to the collision.
