Farmers’ protests during the Punjab Bandh have brought traffic to a standstill across the state. Farmer unions staged demonstrations and blocked roads, disrupting transportation. Protests were reported at Amritsar’s Golden Gate and other locations, while in Ludhiana, a sit-in at Sugar Mill Chowk began around 8:30 AM, halting vehicular movement on the highway.
Bus services across Punjab were suspended, leaving passengers stranded. The usually bustling Amritsar bus stand remained deserted. Farmer organizations have appealed to the public for support during the bandh.
Police Commissioner Swapn Sharma assured that maintaining security and law and order during the bandh is a top priority. He emphasized that the bandh is expected to conclude peacefully.
