Devotees and pilgrims attending Mahakumbh 2025 will no longer face challenges in obtaining ration. Under the Central Government’s One Nation, One Ration Card (ONORC) scheme, ration cardholders from any state can access ration at designated shops in the Kumbh Mela area.
District Supply Officer Sunil Singh stated that 138 temporary ration shops have been set up in the mela region. Cardholders will receive 2.5 kg of rice and wheat per unit free of cost. Additionally, families can split their ration allocation between the mela area and their home state.
For the estimated five lakh pilgrims and thousands of workers, subsidized ration will be available at the following rates:
- ₹5/kg for 3 kg wheat flour
- ₹6/kg for 2 kg rice
- ₹18/kg for 1 kg sugar
The process to issue temporary ration cards has already begun. Applicants will be provided ration cards based on verification and surveys conducted by 93 trained revenue officers (lekhpals).
Furthermore, from January 10, permits will be issued to akharas and institutions requiring additional ration. Temporary domestic gas connections will also be available, allowing devotees to refill cylinders conveniently.
