Char Dham Yatra: Begins April 30, Opening Dates to Be Finalized Soon

The much-awaited Char Dham Yatra is set to begin on April 30, coinciding with Akshaya Tritiya, marking the opening of the Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines. The opening dates for the Badrinath and Kedarnath shrines will be announced on Basant Panchami and Mahashivratri, respectively.

Badrinath Shrine Opening Date

The opening date for Badrinath Shrine will be determined on February 2, during Basant Panchami at the Narendranagar royal court following traditional rituals and Panchang calculations. The date for the Tel Kalash Gadu Ghada Yatra, an essential ceremonial event, will also be decided.

On January 30, the Dimri Religious Central Panchayat will hand over the Tel Kalash to the Shri Narsingh Temple in Joshimath. After rituals, the Kalash will be transported to the royal palace, where it will be preserved for ceremonial use during the shrine’s opening.

Kedarnath Shrine Opening Date

The Kedarnath Shrine’s opening date will be declared on February 26, during Mahashivratri, at the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath.

Gangotri and Yamunotri Shrines

The opening timings for the Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines, along with the schedule for the arrival of deities at the temples, will be announced by their respective temple committees.

Madhyamaheshwar and Tungnath Shrines

The opening dates for Madhyamaheshwar (Second Kedar) and Tungnath (Third Kedar) shrines will be declared on Baisakhi.
