CBI Files Case in Multi-Crore Scam at ITBP Mirthi Battalion

A multi-crore scam involving ₹1.75 crore has been uncovered at the ITBP Mirthi Battalion in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered two cases, implicating six officials and contractors in irregularities related to the transportation of rations and other goods.

Details of the Scam

The alleged fraud occurred between 2017 and 2021 during the tenure of different officials. One case pertains to ₹22 lakh, while the other involves embezzlement of over ₹1 crore.

Nature of Allegations

CBI’s preliminary investigation suggests:

  • Misuse of government funds.
  • Submission of fake bills to justify inflated expenses.

The investigation is ongoing, and the accused are being scrutinized for their role in the financial irregularities.
