The Char Dham Tirth Purohit Mahapanchayat has strongly opposed the Uttarakhand government’s decision to merge religious affairs with the tourism department. Additionally, the body has declared its resistance to any restrictions on the number of pilgrims for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra.
During a meeting held in Dehradun on Friday, chaired by Suresh Semwal, members expressed their discontent over the recent merger of the Dharma Sw Department into the tourism department. The Mahapanchayat emphasized that religious affairs should remain independent and not be governed by tourism regulations.
Furthermore, concerns were raised regarding irregularities in Kedarnath’s helicopter services. The Mahapanchayat demanded that the government establish a vigilance office near the helipad to ensure transparency in the operations of helicopter service providers.
