The Uttarakhand Transport Corporation has started regular bus services between Dehradun and Ukhimath-Chopta in Rudraprayag district, providing a new public transport option for residents and travellers visiting the region.
The bus will depart from Mussoorie Bus Stand in Dehradun at 6:15 am daily, while the return service from Ukhimath-Chopta will operate at 6 am, according to the announced schedule.
Kedarnath MLA Asha Nautiyal inaugurated the service on Sunday at Mussoorie Bus Stand. Mukesh Naithani, president of the Roadways Employees Joint Council’s Dehradun division, said the bus would now operate regularly on the route.
During the inauguration, Nautiyal thanked officials of the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation for starting the service. The new route is expected to provide a public transport option for passengers travelling between Dehradun and the Ukhimath-Chopta area.
The MLA also raised the issue of a pending notification concerning free bus travel for women aged 60 and above. She said Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had announced the facility for women travelling on Roadways buses, but the official notification had not yet been issued.
A memorandum regarding the matter was submitted to Nautiyal, seeking progress on the implementation of the announcement.
Roadways General Manager (Operations) Kranti Singh, Rural Depot Assistant General Manager Prateek Jain, Chitralekha, Devendra Singh and Vipin Bijalwan were among those present at the inauguration.
The launch marks the formal start of the bus service connecting Dehradun with Ukhimath-Chopta. Passengers should confirm the latest departure timings with the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation before travelling.
