The gates of Gangotri National Park for the Kanakhun, Nelang, and Gartang Gali treks have officially been opened to tourists and mountaineers. However, access to the Gomukh and Kedartal treks remains restricted due to the presence of large glaciers obstructing the paths. Despite this, tourists can now begin visiting the scenic Nelang and Gartang Gali areas starting today.

Harish Negi, the Deputy Director of Gangotri National Park, and Pradeep Bisht, the Range Officer, performed a formal ceremony to open the Kanakhun barrier gate on the Gomukh trek. Following this, the gates to Nelang Valley and Gartang Gali were also opened. These areas, which include the “Little Ladakh” of Nelang and the engineering marvels of Gartang Gali, are now accessible for exploration by visitors.

Pradeep Bisht mentioned that from April 1st, permits for these two locations have been granted to tourists. However, the Gomukh and Kedartal treks remain closed for now, as the paths are blocked and damaged due to large glaciers. Workers are currently engaged in clearing the trails, with efforts underway to restore access for mountaineering activities as soon as possible. On the first day of opening, tourists were eager to explore the Nelang Valley and Gartang Gali, enjoying the thrilling landscapes and unique features of these regions.
