Jolly Grant: Elephant Attacks Woman in Badasi Grant, Dies During Treatment at Dehradun Hospital

Dehradun: A woman died after being attacked by an elephant in Badasi Grant under the Thano Nyay Panchayat area. The woman suffered serious injuries in the attack and was admitted to the ICU of CMI Hospital in Dehradun, where she died during treatment late at night.

The deceased has been identified as Anjali Gupta, wife of Ashwini Gupta, a resident of Dhaniyadi in Badasi Grant. According to family members, the incident took place at around 7:15 pm when Anjali was returning to her restaurant after collecting milk from her parental home nearby.

An elephant was reportedly standing in a lane when it suddenly attacked her. Hearing her cries, local residents reached the spot. The elephant subsequently moved towards the forest.

Villagers rushed the injured woman to the hospital for treatment. Family members said she had suffered multiple injuries, including several broken ribs, in the elephant attack.

Anjali’s younger brother Akhilesh Manwal said she lived in Dhaniyadi and was returning to her restaurant after collecting milk from their house when the elephant attacked her.

The family runs a restaurant in Dhaniyadi along the Airport-Raipur main road. Anjali was admitted to the ICU at CMI Hospital, but her condition deteriorated and she die0d during treatment.

The incident has raised fresh concerns among residents in the area over increasing human-elephant encounters. Local residents are likely to seek stronger measures to prevent wild elephants from entering residential areas.
