On the instructions of the District Magistrate, a joint team from the local administration, Municipal Corporation, and Transport Department conducted an enforcement and verification drive in Bhimtal on Wednesday. The action was focused on illegal auto rickshaws operating without proper licenses and the growing issue of encroachments on roads.
During the checking campaign across various parts of the city, over 80 auto rickshaws were inspected. Under the Motor Vehicle Act, 45 challans were issued, and 6 auto rickshaws were seized for violating regulations. Additionally, the Municipal Corporation team removed 15 illegally set up hawker stalls and seized their goods. 17 challans were issued under the Municipal Act.
The team also removed illegal encroachments in front of shops on main streets and markets. They conducted checks on the documents of external individuals and announced that they would intensify the verification campaign for hawkers, focusing specifically on verifying their documents.
The operation was led by SDM Rahul Shah, Municipal Commissioner Richa Singh, and RTO Gurudev Singh, with participation from teams of the Municipal Corporation and Transport Department.
