Weather conditions in Uttarakhand have taken a colder turn due to widespread rainfall from the hills to the plains. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy snowfall in Uttarkashi district on May 7 and 8, cautioning residents and travelers.
According to the latest forecast by the Meteorological Center, an orange alert has been issued for today in hilly districts for thunderstorms, hailstorms, and intense rainfall. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been sounded for plains, predicting strong winds.
The department expects this spell of unstable weather to continue until May 8. Rain, hailstorms, and lightning are likely to occur in various mountainous regions, while plains could witness light rain accompanied by gusty winds. Authorities have urged people, especially those in high-altitude areas, to remain alert and avoid unnecessary travel during the alert period.
