The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) formed to study the feasibility of implementing the ‘One Nation, One Election’ policy will visit Uttarakhand from May 20 to 22. The 40-member committee includes Garhwal MP Anil Baluni and is chaired by PP Chaudhary. The visit will begin with consultations in Maharashtra and Uttarakhand.
The committee is scheduled to arrive in Dehradun on the evening of May 20. On May 21, members will meet with the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police to discuss administrative perspectives on holding simultaneous elections. Heads of the Home, Finance, Law, and Education departments will also share their inputs.
The JPC will also consult officials from NTPC and THDC and engage with representatives from various political parties to gather diverse viewpoints on the proposal. On the final day of the visit, May 22, the committee will hold discussions with officers from the State Election Commission.
