In Chamoli district, the Electricity Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum has directed the Energy Corporation to issue electricity bills with a 50% subsidy to the residents of Maan, India’s first village, as per the Chief Minister’s earlier announcement. Additionally, the forum instructed that no surcharge should be levied during the winter months when the village remains largely uninhabited.
The forum organized a public hearing camp in Maan village on Sunday to address electricity-related concerns of the locals. Villagers pointed out that even when the village is vacant during winter, they still receive electricity bills. They also raised complaints about irregular power cuts and billing errors.
Forum members Santosh Dimri and Arjun Singh Bisht directed officials from the Energy Corporation to resolve complaints promptly and ensure implementation of the 50% subsidy.
The camp was attended by village head Pitambar Molpha, UPCL Sub-Divisional Officer Avinash Bhatt, other officials, and local residents.
