Uttarakhand witnessed a sudden change in weather this afternoon, bringing relief from the rising temperatures. Around 3 PM, heavy rainfall began in Badrinath Dham, catching devotees by surprise. Despite the rain, many pilgrims reached the temple carrying umbrellas and raincoats and offered prayers.

Meanwhile, Hemkund Sahib and nearby high-altitude areas such as Nanda Ghughuti, Niti, and Mana valleys experienced fresh snowfall. By evening, the overall temperature in the region dropped, offering a cool respite to both residents and visitors.

According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon is expected to arrive in Uttarakhand by June 10 — five days earlier than usual. Director of the Meteorological Centre, Bikram Singh, stated that the first week of June will witness significant pre-monsoon showers, especially in hilly districts. However, after June 5, a brief break in rainfall is expected.

The state is also likely to receive six percent more rainfall than average this monsoon, bringing hope for a better agricultural season and water supply.
