Bairagi Camp in Haridwar to Host Lakhs of Dak Kanwar Pilgrims for Five Days

Haridwar’s Kanwar Mela has entered its peak phase as the influx of Dak Kanwar pilgrims begins, turning Bairagi Camp in Kankhal into a bustling hub for the next five days. Starting Friday, Dak Kanwar vehicles will be routed to this zone and later sent towards Singh Dwar for further movement.

This year’s Kanwar Yatra is witnessing record-breaking numbers. Between July 10 and Wednesday, over 1 crore 16 lakh 90 thousand Shiv devotees have departed Haridwar with Ganga water, headed toward their home states. The majority of these pilgrims are from Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Rajasthan. In comparison, only 49 lakh 40 thousand Kanwariyas had participated in the five-day period last year.

Beginning today, thousands of Dak Kanwar vehicles — including bikes, cars, and trucks — will enter Haridwar daily, with the pilgrim rush expected to reach its peak by July 22. Authorities have designated Bairagi Camp as the main dispatch point to manage this massive turnout and ensure a smoother movement for pilgrims.
