Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the state-level launch of the CM Sashakt Bahna Utsav Yojana across 95 development blocks on Monday, emphasizing the pivotal role women are playing in shaping Uttarakhand’s rural economy through self-help groups (SHGs).
The launch event, held at the state secretariat, featured a display of various Raksha Bandhan products created by women’s SHGs. Several women also tied rakhis to the Chief Minister during the event. Dhami praised the determination and hard work of women in SHGs, stating that with proper opportunity, resources, and support, women can significantly contribute not only to their own empowerment but also to the progress of families, communities, and the entire state.
He highlighted that more than 1.63 lakh women in Uttarakhand have achieved the status of Lakhpati Didis, creating a new benchmark for women’s empowerment. The government, he said, has built a robust ecosystem for processing, packaging, and marketing SHG products. Under this initiative, 49 growth centers have been set up to support the processing and promotion of these products.
MLA Munna Singh Chauhan and several senior officials were also present during the inauguration ceremony.
