The student union elections at Uttarakhand’s largest DAV PG College turned into a closely watched contest this year. After a gap of 14 years, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) reclaimed the president’s post, with its candidate Rishabh Malhotra defeating Harish Chandra Joshi of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) by a margin of 657 votes.
For over a decade, the president’s chair had been dominated by ABVP and its rebel candidates. However, in 2023, Aryan Student Organisation’s Siddharth Agarwal broke the streak by securing the post, halting ABVP’s winning run. This year, while the election technically saw a triangular contest, the primary battle was between ABVP and NSUI. ABVP’s comeback victory reaffirmed its stronghold in the college.
In other results, Vishal Kumar won the vice president’s post by defeating Dev Kumar. Aryan Organisation’s Karan Negi secured the secretary’s post, while Abhishek Kumar became the joint secretary. Divyanshi Kanojia was elected treasurer, and Priyanshu Singh won as university representative.
