District Legal Services Authority, Almora, organises camp on World Polio Day

ALMORA, 24 Oct: As per the instructions of State Legal Services Authority, Nainital, and under the guidance of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Almora, Shrikant Pandey, Shashi Sharma, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, organised legal awareness camps on the occasion of “World Polio Day” at Hill Craft Institute Ranikhet, City Montessori Public School Pali and Village Kapina.

The camps began with the playing of the NALSA theme song, “Ek Mutthi Aasman”. Attendees and students were informed and pamphlets were distributed about polio eradication efforts, prevention of the disease, the NALSA Legal Services for Victims of Drug Abuse and Drug Menace Elimination Scheme, 2015, the NALSA Legal Services for Persons with Mental Illness and Intellectual Disability Scheme, 2024, gender justice, rights of transgender people, gender equality, full and equal representation and participation at all levels and empowerment of all women and girls, the role and benefits of the Permanent Lok Adalat, free legal aid, maintenance, the POCSO Act, the PC & PNDT Act, the NDPS Act, the NALSA helpline number 15100, good touch, bad touch, the Child Line number 1098, and the upcoming National Lok Adalat to be held on December 13, 2025.

Principals, teachers, and rights friends were present at the camps. The Secretary, District Legal Services Authority visited the Legal Aid Clinics operated in Tehsil Ranikhet, Police Station Ranikhet and Government Hospital Ranikhet and reviewed the work of Adhikar Mitras and gave necessary guidelines.
