Vigilance Arrests Two Officials for Bribery

Pauri Garhwal – In a action against corruption, the Vigilance Department on Friday arrested a Medical Officer posted at CHC Nainidanda while accepting a bribe of ₹20,000. The officer had allegedly demanded the bribe from a nursing officer to ensure her posting remained at PHC Adalikhal.

According to Vigilance officials, the in-charge of CHC Nainidanda had asked the nursing officer, currently posted at PHC Adalikhal, for ₹20,000 in exchange for not transferring her. Following a formal complaint by the victim, a trap team was constituted. Acting swiftly, the team caught the Medical Officer red-handed while accepting the bribe amount.

After the arrest, Vigilance officials also conducted searches at the accused officer’s residence to investigate movable and immovable assets and other related documents. Further interrogation and investigation are underway to determine the extent of corruption and possible involvement of others.

The Vigilance Department has stated that strict action will continue against public servants involved in bribery and misuse of position, reaffirming the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.
